At Kinnaur the closer you get from Spiti valley the more present Buddhism becomes. The flags in the wind, the prayer wheels, slowly and without really noticing it become larger and more frequent. Time to send this timeline back to India. Shimla was the first stop in the mountains, after the slow train climb from the plains of Punjab, but was mostly a gateway to one of the tripās main goals: the Spiti valley. I have fond memories of Shimla, the mountain station created so that the British could escape the heatwaves of Delhi. Itās another unusual city that doesnāt fit in India, a bit like Chandigarh, a city literally in the clouds. And if that one was planned by a French architect, Shimla was created by a Scottish man who felt like at home, and I guess that says it all.
