I have fond memories of Shimla, the mountain station created so that the British could escape the heatwaves of Delhi. It’s another unusual city that doesn’t fit in India, a bit like Chandigarh, a city literally in the clouds. And if that one was planned by a French architect, Shimla was created by a Scottish man who felt like at home, and I guess that says it all. I have fond memories of Shimla, but few photos, probably and also because it was a place to cool down after the heat of Punjab, and just before of what was coming: the madness of Kinnaur and Spiti valleys!
