These two brothers were lingering at the Buddhist temple me and Fernando were while exploring the little and cozy Kalpa. Like always, kids tend go a bit over the top in front of cameras, and a bit of time are needed so that their excitement goes away. The often narrow Hindustan-Tibet road along the green and steep slopes of Kinnaur valley, with the so colorful Indian trucks always passing by in both directions, and so many times it was a tight fit when crossing…Himachal Pradesh, India, 2017.Ā #kinnaur #himachalpradesh #indiaĀ joaoalmeida.photoshelter.com/image/I00…

Time to send this timeline back to India. Shimla was the first stop in the mountains, after the slow train climb from the plains of Punjab, but was mostly a gateway to one of the trip’s main goals: the Spiti valley. In order to reach its Buddhist monasteries we had to first go all the way through Kinnaur valley, being driven through the old and narrow Hindustan-Tibet Road that goes all the way through its steep slopes.https://joaoalmeida.photoshelter.com/image/I0000tOUVzb1iUcMHimachal Pradesh, India, 2017.Ā #landscape #kinnaur #himachalpradeshĀ #indiaĀ

I have fond memories of Shimla, the mountain station created so that the British could escape the heatwaves of Delhi. It’s another unusual city that doesn’t fit in India, a bit like Chandigarh, a city literally in the clouds. And if that one was planned by a French architect, Shimla was created by a Scottish man who felt like at home, and I guess that says it all. I have fond memories of Shimla, but few photos, probably and also because it was a place to cool down after the heat of Punjab, and just before of what was coming: the madness of Kinnaur and Spiti valleys! Slow day at Shimla also meant a haircut, or in my case a head shave. While I was waiting the close shave of @fernandocarvalhodasilva to end, só I could get my turn, this boy was bored to death while his mother had her eyebrows done by the barber’s wife. A true family business. India, 2017. #portrait #shimla #himachalpradesh #indiahttps://joaoalmeida.photoshelter.com/image/I00006HZYOD9Zclg
